HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface. To see what other HOLA members are doing currently, click here.

Ivan L. Argudo, shown at right, was profiled in the Reflectores Citadinos column of the weekly New York newspaper La Voz Hispana, which tracked his career as an actor and director from his native Ecuador to New York, where he also runs (with his co-producer Nila Murillo de Argudo) the theater company Teatro Vanguardia USA. Also featured in the article are Aileene Pérez and Jorge Díaz, who will be acting in Yoshvani Medina's Sinfonía en Do mayor (y la menor). Directed by Argudo, the play will be presented in October at the Producers Club Theater, located in the theater district of midtown Manhattan. By popular demand, Héctor Luis Rivera, shown at left, is presenting 3 veces De Grandy. An evening of three short plays written by award-winning playwright and actress Julie De Grandy, the Teatro Experimental Blue Amigos (TEBA) production will open up its 2016-2017 season and is directed by Rivera and presented in September at the Broadway Blackbox Theater, located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood. Among the show's actors are HOLA members Yvette Quintero and Kathy Tejada, as well as Fernando Vieira, Alejandro Martínez, and Leonel Carrasco.

Lucio Fernández, shown at right, was honored in Newark, New Jersey on Friday, August 12, 2016 at the 2016 Ecuadorian American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey (EACCNJ) gala, where he was named "Actor of the Year" (plaque shown above left). In conjunction with the EACCNJ honor, he received an official proclamation from New Jersey State Senator Robert Menéndez (shown above right) and a Certificate of Recognition from the Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders (shown at left). Recently, he co-wrote, narrated, shot, directed, and produced the documentary short Painting Linda. A tribute to disabled visual artist Linda Riveros, the film revolves around interviews of fellow artists and a visual tribute to Riveros created by her colleagues. The film was screened on Friday, August 12, 2016 as part of the official opening of the Everyone With Linda art exhibit, which will take place at the Union City Museum at the William V.
