HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to "gossip". In this sense, we use it to highlight HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Mildred Ruiz-Sapp, shown at right, will be acting in the New York premiere production of Party People. Written by Universes (Steven Sapp, Ruiz-Sapp and William "Ninja" Ruiz), it was developed and directed by Liesl Tommy and be choreographed by Millicent Johnnie. The ensemble-driven show will be a part of the 2016-17 season of the Public Theater, located in Manhattan's NoHo neighborhood. For more information, click here, here, or here.

The feature film Medardo (written by Julio Ortega and directed by Nitsy Grau) is an official entrant in the online Mexico International Film Festival and Awards. The film stars Ortega, Edna Lee Figueroa

Mayté Hernández will be in the upcoming season of the webseries "Latin Lives" (created by Robert Louis Maisonett).


Marcos Sotomayor has a co-starring role in the spoof webseries "Love and Bachata" (Flama), where he plays one of the "+3" in the bachata group Rome +3 (aka The Adventurers). The first episode can be seen in the video below (caution: some slight strong language).



Roberto Sanábria was featured in the DNA Info blog, where it covered his performing with his father, Grammy-nominated percussionist Bobby Sanábria, at 
the Bronx's third "Boogie Down Booth" (an arts/music installation that gives residents of the Bronx a place to sit down and listen to 16 different tracks with roots in the borough), which was unveiled on Tuesday at East 161st Street and Elton Avenue in the Morrisania area of the Bronx. The song Sanábria père et fils do together, "From Mambo to Hip Hop" is included the soundtrack of the Boogie Down Booth. To see the live performance, click on the video below.
