HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface. To see what other HOLA members are doing currently, click here.

Zahaira Curiel, shown at right, was one of a handful of women honored by the Centro Altagracia de Fe y Justicia for enriching the community of Washington Heights and Inwood (in upper Manhattan) as part of International Women's Day. She was honored as a result of her work as a project director for Statement Arts, which is dedicated to bringing the creative visual & performing arts to underserved and/or low-income individuals. The awards ceremony will be on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 809 Restaurant Lounge in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood. For more information, click here.

Débora Balardini, shown at left, was profiled in the March 2016 issue of Industry Rules magazine, where she talked of her career as a performer, her pet project (PUNTO Space) and the two theater companies she co-founded (Grupo.BR and Nettles Arts Collective). To read the article, click here.

Juan Carlos Pinedo is co-starring in the short film Oasis (written and directed by Carmen Jiménez), which has been hitting the film festival circuit and recently won the Women's Film Critic Circle Award from the Winter Film Awards (which took place in February in New York City). The film will next be screened in March at the Queens World Film Festival, also in New York City. For more information on the film, click here.

Carlo Lorenzo García voiced Beavis in the webseries "Cartoon Hook-Ups" (Winky Dink Media). To see the webisode, click on the video below (note: slight adult language).
