HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. José Antonio Melián, shown at right, is co-starring in the Matt Barbot play Princess Clara of Loisaida. Directed by Nelson Eusebio, the production will be presented in January at the Schapiro Theatre in the Manhattanville/West Harlem section of Manhattan. For more information, click here.

Modesto Flako Jiménez is directing the Nick E. Finn solo show The Last Hipster in Brooklyn. Written and performed by Finn, the show is part of the One Catches Light Festival. The festival will take place in January 2016 at Jack, located in the Clinton Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn. Denia Brache, Julissa Román and Anthony Ruiz co-star in the feature film Exposed. Starring Keanu Reeves, Mira Sorvino and Ana de Armas, the film was written by Gee Malik Linton and directed by Declan Dale and also stars Danny Hoch, Big Daddy Kane, Daniel Ojeda Astigarraga and Nelson Landrieu and can be currently seen in U.S. movie theaters nationally. The award-winning feature film Medardo is receiving a special one-night only screening in New York. The film, written by and starring Julio Ortega and directed by Nitsy Grau Crespo, also stars Edna Lee Figueroa, Edison Carrera, Inma Heredia, Gloria Ospina, and Juan Villarreal. The screening will take place on Sunday afternoon, January 31, 2016 at the Queens Theater in Flushing Meadows Corona Park and have a question-and-answer session afterward with members of the cast.
