Annual LOS PADRINOS Awards with Tío Louie

We can’t do it alone! At PRIME LATINO MEDIA we firmly believe in the power of networking and forging working relationships to move projects forward and advance careers. We also know the power of having a “Padrino” and “Madrina” (Godfather & Godmother) in the industry. To that effect, we highlight Latinos who aside from being powerhouses in the industry, believe in community and selflessly support Latinos and their projects. No better way to celebrate our mantra for 2016 ~ ¡Latinos Unidos!

LUIS ANTONIO RAMOS  @LuisARamosActor
A Puerto Rican native who was raised in the Bronx, he is best known for his scene-stealing role as Carlos “Víbora” Ruiz — a street-savvy drug dealer and the leader of the Soldado Nation—on STARZ’s hit series "POWER". He has had lead roles on ABC’s "LUCKY 7", this year appeared as Venezuelan President Francisco Suárez in the CBS hit series "MADAM SECRETARY", and has performed on "CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION", "LAW & ORDER", "BURN NOTICE", "NEW YORK UNDERCOVER", "CSI: MIAMI", and "NIP/TUCK", to name a few. He has performed in theater from roles in the one-man show GROWING UP GONZALES to several classics, including ROMEO AND JULIET, RICHARD II, HENRY THE IV and A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM. But it is his commitment to the Latino independent filmmaking community that had him render roles with the utmost respect in films ranging from THE MIRACLE OF SPANISH HARLEM to the recent, STOCKROOM. PRIME LATINO MEDIA Padrino 2015.

J.W. CORTÉS   @jwcortes
J.W. Cortés is an award-winning actor, Marine combat veteran, singer, filmmaker, philanthropist and serves New York State’s Metropolitan Transit Authority Police Department (MTAPD) as an officer based in Grand Central Terminal. A good 2015 in which he’s played roles from Detective Carlos Álvarez on FOX’s hit prime-time series, "GOTHAM" to NBC's "THE BLACKLIST" and "THE MYSTERIES OF LAURA". He also helps raise awareness and funding for children’s charities, such as Autism Speaks and for veterans through the Bob Woodruff Foundation, to name a few. But when you least expect it, he’s at a reading in the East Village for a rising Latina playwright to introducing a docudrama on a Nuyorican female detective at the International Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival. PRIME LATINO MEDIA Padrino 2015.

ELAINE DEL VALLE    @brownsvillebred
This award-winning actor is a leading producer and casting director. Her signature project is an autobiographical one-woman show that she wrote and starred in, BROWNSVILLE BRED. On HBO Latino she played "Tía” (aunt) in the English-language narrative film ELLIOT'S LOVE, where she also negotiated a first of its kind deal for interstitial programming, GRAN'PA KNOWS BEST, a webseries she produces with director/creator, William D. Caballero. For Comedy Central’s digital channel she cast "ALTERNATINO", the first Latino-centric sketch. Elaine also wrote, cast and produced, "THE BODEGA SERIES", a pilot about gentrification in Brooklyn through the eyes of the Rivera family who own a Bushwick bodega. This is a lady who produces other Latinos' projects – from documentaries to webseries, as well as funding some. Plus, as a casting maven, clients seek Elaine for her knowledge of the Latino market and language, and over 50% of her castings are Latinos.  PRIME LATINO MEDIA Madrina 2015.
