Fact: comedy is one of the most difficult genres in media and entertainment. Reality: many Latino content creators gravitate towards it, few deliver. Plus, cultural humor has particular nuances that don’t always migrate well in crossing borders. Various universal subjects in addressing comedy will be tackled targeting diverse media:

JAIME FERNÁNDEZ @jfernz
For the last 10 years in the NYC comedy circuit, at first as a stand-up comedian, he transitioned into acting in both live and filmed sketch comedy as a co-founder and head writer of the comedy troupe Room 28. He is in the upcoming indie film The Boy Downstairs, the indie comedy The Stockroom and "The Ghouligans!" miniseries. TV credits include "Law & Order", HBO Latino’s anecdote series, "Habla Ya!", commentating on the NuvoTV series "Latino 101", and voicing the character of Armando in "Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony". He wrote and acted in the webseries "Studio Heads", co-wrote the webseries "Ask Bago" on Flama and the webseries "Henry" (the last winning him a Best Actor in a Dramedy award at the LA Webfest awards). His current sketch group signed a deal with Lorne Michaels' Broadway Video digital site to create comedic content, Más Mejor.

ANGELO LOZADA @angelolozada66
Hailed as one of the top 50 Latino comics in the U.S., Bronx native Angelo Lozada attributes his upbringing in the Boogie-Down for his comedic style. His career has included standup, sketch comedy, writing, theater and film. Currently, he is the warm-up comedian for Comedy Central’s acclaimed "The Daily Show with Trevor Noah". His television stand-up credits include NBC’s "Showtime at the Apollo", BET’s "Comic View" and screen credits range from the Hal Hartley-directed films, Ned Rifle (2014) and My America (2014). His latest creative endeavor is the T & A-produced digital series "Get Some!", which has been featured in several festivals. http://kollidetv.com/watch/get-some

YAMIN SEGAL @yaminsegal

Responsible for over 80 million views, he has overseen the development and production teams at Univision's English-language, digital channel Flama from inception less than two years ago, to a rapidly growing network of over 500,000 Facebook friends, and 300,000 YouTube subscribers. He has worked to curate partnerships with online influencers, develop original programming and implement content for year-long campaigns for fortune 500 companies, such as Coca-Cola and McDonalds, among others. He is the first born of at least four children. He became a standup after narrowly escaping a career in journalism. He appears every Saturday morning on CNN with Randi Kaye, delivering comic relief commentary via Santiago's Weekly Pop Wrapup. His first television special was, Comedy Central Presents: Bill Santiago. His first book was Pardon My Spanglish. ¡Porque Because! Bill’s TV credits include a half-hour special for Showtime "LOL", Craig Ferguson, Conan O'Brien, Comedy Central's Premium Blend, Chelsea Lately, Good Morning America Now, ABC News, NBC TV Visiones, BBC World and CNN en Español. He had the honor of hosting the Latin Grammy's Man of the Year Award ceremonies, honoring Juan Luis Guerra (the tallest Dominican he ever met).

RHINA VALENTÍN @rhinavalentin
“La Reina,” Founder and CEO of La Reina Del Barrio Inc., is a New York-born Latina of Puerto Rican descent. She is a mother, comedienne, actor, writer, producer, director, dancer and choreographer. For the past nine years, she has been the host for the awardwinning talk show, "OPEN Friday" on BronxNet TV. She is a graduate of the William Esper Studio Conservatory Master’s Program. Rhina has been featured on HBO’s Betty la Flaca, premiering as an award-winning short film at the NY Int’l Latino Film Festival. She has performed from the Apollo Theater to Lincoln Center. Her latest character from The ONE Festival is her one-woman hit show, Tatáa, the freestyle dance girl – a throwback to the 1980s & 1990’s. http://lareinadelbarrio.org/?p=3414

The award-winning actor is a leading producer and casting director. Propelling her career was an autobiographical one-woman show that she wrote and starred in, Brownsville Bred. She negotiated a first of its kind deal for interstitial programming with HBO Latino, "Gran’pa Knows Best", a webseries she produces with director/creator, William D. Caballero. She recently cast Comedy Central’s "Alternatino", the first Latino-centric sketch for their digital channel. She also wrote, cast and produced "The Bodega Series", a pilot about gentrification in Brooklyn through the eyes of the Rivera family who own a Bushwick bodega.
    


LOUIS PEREGO MORENO @tiolouie
Founder & Executive Producer of PRIME LATINO MEDIA, the largest network on the East Coast of bilingual Latino multimedia-makers and actors that hosts the PRIME LATINO MEDIA Salón, metropolitan New York's only monthly network gathering in which over 60 narrative & documentary filmmakers, programmers, casting agents, TV & digital media producers, actors and journalists-authors have been interviewed. An interactive content producer and educator who for the past 34 years has owned Skyline Features, a bilingual (English- and Spanish-language) multimedia and educational production company developing documentaries, television programming and advertising commercials featuring Latinos, Blacks, Women, Urban Youth and LGBT. Created a non-profit video training program that over the course of ten years produced 70 documentary shorts with 1,500 Latino and Black Youth. Producer/Director/Writer of documentary feature, Latina Confessions (What Does It Mean To Be Latina in the USA?) and on the PBS documentary feature as co-producer of American Dreams Deferred.
