HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Caridad de la Luz (also known by her nom de poésie et de musique La Bruja), shown at right, will be performing with the Camaradas Salsa Orchestra, under the musical direction of Desmar Guevara, on Friday, August 14, 2015 at Camaradas El Barrio Bar and Restaurant, located in Manhattan's El Barrio neighborhood, as part of the popular bar-restaurant's 11th anniversary celebration. Francisco Fuertes is one of the stars (and a producer) of the Francisco Lupini Basagoiti short film Tú. Yo. Baño. Sexo. Ahora., which continues its journey on the film festival circuit, and picking up awards along the way. The film picked up a Grand Jury Award for Best International Short Film from the North Carolina Gay and Lesbian Film Festival (NCGLFF)For more information on the film, click here or here.

Raquel Almazán will be performing at the second annual Conscious Language series of events. Called "conversation and performance on the power of language", it is curated by Craig "muMs" Grant and Lauren Whitehead, and will take place in August at The Wild Project, located in Manhattan's Loísaida neighborhood. It will feature performers Mikal Amin (also known as Hired Gun), Mahogany L. Browne, Baba Israel, Shakina Nayfack, Liza Jessie Peterson, and others. Luis Salgadoshown above left, was featured in EFE and in Broadway World as a result of his directing the Puerto Rico premiere of David Mamet's Speed-the-Plow (titled Jala-la-pala in Spanish). The production boasts an all-HOLA member cast in Éric-Dominique PérezJavier E. Gómez and Emmanuelle Bordas (shown above right, from left to right) and will run in August at El Corralón de San José in Viejo San Juan, Puerto Rico.
