HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface. To see what other HOLA members are doing currently, click here.

Caridad de la Luz (also known by her nom de poésie et de musique La Bruja) and Miriam ColónRosie Pérez and Rita Morenoshown above, clockwise from top left, were named by La Respuesta magazine as one of "20 Puerto Rican Women Everyone Should Know" (other women on the list include Sonia Sotomayor, Melissa Mark Viverito, Nydia Velázquez, and Nicholasa Mohr). José Sepúlveda just wrapped up filming on the short film Read Aloud (written and directed by Blake Pruitt).

The feature film Millie and the Lords (written and directed by Jennica Carmona and produced by Joel Arandia) is currently hitting the film festival circuit. Its next stop is at the Queens World Film Festival, where it will be screened on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the Secret Theatre's Big Secret Theatre, located in the Long Island City neighborhood of Queens. The film stars Jessica Carmona; Alex Hernández; Felipe Luciano; Mateo Gómez; Alfredo Huereca; Carolina Ravassa; Cedric Leiba, Jr.; Alfonso Romeo Suárez; and Gabriel Castillo. For more information, click here.

Víctor Cruz, shown at right, was interviewed on the podcast "The Translators", hosted by Michael "Juan Bago" Díaz and Jaime Fernández, where he spoke of his life and career, including working and improvising with Al Pacino (in the feature film The Humbling, directed by Barry Levinson), as well as his latest projects (as an actor, writer, standup comedian, director, and teacher, and not as a wide receiver for the New York Giants American football team ).
