HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface. To see what other HOLA members are doing currently, click here.

Elaine Del Valle, shown at right, was profiled in Broadway World, where her award-winning, self-penned solo show Brownsville Bred (directed by Pamela Moller Kareman) was highlighted. The production is returning to New York, after a  successful off-Broadway stint and U.S. college tour. The show will take up residency for the summer at Nuyorican Poets' Café in Manhattan's Loísaida neighborhood (a homecoming of sorts, as this is the same location where it premiered and had "the most successful run in the establishment's 37-year history"). A.B. Lugo recently hosted the My Final Shot Production (MFSP) Awards at St. Teresa's Hall in Manhattan's Loísaida neighborhood. Receiving top honors were actress/producer Miriam Colón (Lifetime Achievement Award) and actress/filmmaker Frances Lozada (Innovator Award).

The short film You're Dead To Me (written by Adelina Anthony and directed by Wu Tsang), starring Laura Patalano and Harmony Santana, won the Best of the Fest Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival and Shorts Fest, which took place in June in Palm Springs, California.

J.W. Cortés will sing the Star-Spangled Banner before the Major League Baseball game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles, California.

If you are an HOLA member or a Friend of HOLA and want to submit a bochinche item, send us an e-mail. If you live in the New York metropolitan area and want to be an HOLA member, why not join? If you live outside the New York metropolitan area and want to be an HOLA member, you can find out more information on how to do so, by clicking here. If you are not a Friend of HOLA, why not become one?
