HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Modesto Lacén, shown at right, was the subject of a profile in Puerto Rico newspaper El Vocero regarding the role is taking in an upcoming musical about the Brazilian poet, essayist, playwright and lyricist Vinícius de Moraes (O Poetinha). To read the article, which is in Spanish, click here.

Alejandro Fumero Gil is set to start shooting the NYFA short film Remembering (written and directed by Jan Luna).

Milteri Tucker and Bombazo Dance Company are performing in their new dance concert Leró. Choreographed and directed by Tucker, the concert will also feature the poetry of María Aponte, Caridad de la Luz (La Bruja) and Julia de Burgos and will take place on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Pregones Theater in the Mott Haven neighborhood of the South Bronx. Eduardo Leáñez and Patrick E. Horrigan are presenting a monthly variety show. Called Actors with Accents, it is hosted by Inma Heredia and has a rotating list of performers. The show takes place at Teatro Soy, located in Manhattan’s Washington Heights neighborhood.

Mônica Steuer and director Bruno Irizarry were interviewed on the Univision program “Acá entre nos” for the feature film 200 cartas, set to hit movie theaters this weekend. The film stars Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mayra Matos Pérez, Jaime Camil, Dayanara Torres and Iris Chacón. To find out more about the film, click here.
