HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to "gossip." In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting and performance gigs. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface.

The feature film Elliot Loves (written and directed by G. Terracino) continues its run of the film festival circuit in anticipation of its national theatrical release. It is slated to open the Best of Boston LGBT Film Festival with a screening on November 2, 2012 at the Museum of Fine Arts in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The award-winning film was produced by Terracino and Elizabeth Gardner and co-produced by Juan Cáceres, stars Robin De Jesús, Elaine Del Valle (a 2012 HOLA Award recipient), Alfredo Narciso (a 2012 HOLA Award recipient), Cedric Leiba, George Ruiz, Dalia Davi, Monte Bezell, Judy Torres, Bobby DeJesús, Denia Brache and Fabio Costaprado in the cast. Pep Muñoz and Kelly McGrath will star in the Fifth Wall Theater Company’s production of 39 Defaults. Written by Mar Gómez Glez and directed by Julián Mesri, the production is sponsored by Spain Culture New York and will have a November and December run in Casa Mezcal, located in Manhattan’s Loísaida neighborhood. INTAR and the One-Minute Play Festival are presenting the first New York One-Minute Play Festival of Latino Voices, which took place in October and will have another performance in November at INTAR’s eponymous theatre located in Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood. The festival featured work by José Rivera, Kristoffer Díaz, Migdalia Cruz, Caridad Svich, Mariana Carreño King, Flor De Liz Pérez, Carmen Rivera, Cándido Tirado, KJ Sánchez, Tanya Saracho, Christopher Oscar Peña, Tatiana Suárez Pico, Fernanda Coppel (a 2012 HOLA Award recipient), Andrea Thome, Juan Francisco Villa, Raúl Castillo, Julissa Contreras, Michael John Garcés, Carmen Peláez, Carlos Murillo, Jorge Ignacio Cortiñas, J. Julián Christopher, Edwin Sánchez, Alejandro Morales and Gloria Calderón Kellett. The plays were directed by Julián Mesri, Jorge Ignacio Cortiñas, Jerry Ruiz, Melissa Crespo, Alex Correia and Daniel Jáquez and featured the acting talents of Arturo Castro, Oscar Cabrera, Sean Carvajal, Jenniffer Díaz, Ignacio García Bustelo, Ana Grosse, Alfredo Huereca, Mauricio Pita, Malena Ramírez, Emma Ramos, Julissa Román and Gamaliel Valle, among others. Mauricio Alexander wrote, directed, co-starred and co-produced (with Danny Indio) Ch**ga tu Romney, a political satire film short involving Craig Romney, the son of presidential candidate Mitt Romney (played by Mike Smith Rivera, shown at right, in character). Smith Rivera booked the role after the producers found his headshot and resume on the HOLA online directory of talent and offered him the role. To see the series of film shorts, click here and here.

Vanessa Aspillaga wrapped up a guest-starring gig on an episode of “The Good Wife” (CBS), where she worked with series star Juliana Margulies and guest star Michael J. Fox.

 

Raquel Almazán will present her self-penned solo show Porning the Planet: The De-Sensitization of a Nation. Directed by Penny Arcade (with additional direction by Mimi Seton), the show will take place in December in Dixon Place, located in Manhattan's Loísaida neighborhood.
