HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to "gossip." In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting and performance gigs. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface.

José Yenque, shown at left, was the subject of a profile in the El Latino San Diego online publication, where he talks of his career and the inspiration his mother, actress Teresa Yenque, has had on him. He will also play the President of Colombia in an episode of the upcoming series "1600 Penn" (NBC). To read the profile (which is in Spanish), click here.

John Leguizamo, shown at right, will be the subject of the documentary of John Leguizamo: Tales From The Ghetto Klown. Directed by Ben DeJesús and produced by Diamante Pictures, Fisher Stevens (who directed Leguizamo's solo show Ghetto Klown on Broadway and internationally), David Chitel and Latino Public Broadcasting (with major funding provided by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting). The film also features friends and colleagues such as Rosie Pérez, Ralph Fiennes, Liev Schreiber, Fisher Stevens, Cedric Da Entertainer, Justine Maurer-Leguizamo (his wife), Rubén Blades, Arnold Engleman, Wynn Handman, Rosie Berrido and others. The documentary will on PBS in July. For more information, click here or here.

Mauricio Pita booked his first commercial (for a new beverage owned by Pepsi and marketed for the Latin American market).

Éric-Dominique Pérez will be presenting his self-penned solo show El Gringuito in July at the Broadway Comedy Club (located in the Hell's Kitchen area of Manhattan). The show is directed by A.B. Lugo and assistant directed by Bobby Baker.

Liza Colón-Zayas completed work on the film Won't Back Down
(starring Viola Davis, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Holly Hunter, Ving Rhames and Rosie Pérez and directed by Daniel Barnz). She is currently filming Lucky Dog (starring Paul Rudd and Paul Giamatti and directed by Melissa James Gibson).

Modesto Lacén and Celso Bugallo star in the short film Any Kind of Infinite. Written and directed by Roi Fernández, the film will premiere in June at the 2012 Cityvisions Film and Video Showcase, taking place at the DGA Theater on the East Side of Manhattan. For more information, click here.
