HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to "gossip." In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members who are getting acting and performance gigs.

Fernando Gamarra, shown at left, e-mailed us to let us that he has three upcoming projects. He is playing the lead role in Paddy Chayevsky's play The Middle of the Night, which will have a March and April run at the Marilyn Monroe Theatre in the Lee Strasberg Film and Theatre Institute in Manhattan's Union Square area. He is currently shooting the short film Surprise, Surprise, Mr. Colovy (written and directed by Heather Ferreira), where he plays the title role. Finally, he nabbed the lead role in the NYU student film Fragment Forms (directed by Flavia Casà) after he read about the casting in the HOLA daily e-mail announcements. He wrote, "Good things [are] happening. Thanks for the support, always."

Inma Heredia and her solo show My Audition with Almódovar was called the "Comedy Pick of the Week" for the first week of March in the New York Daily News. For more info, click here.

Franklin Furnace just released The History of the Future: A Franklin Furnace View of Performance Art (available on DVD from Video Data Bank), where Alba Sánchez is featured performing an excerpt from her self-penned solo show The Tall Blonde Women in the Puerto Rican Body.

William J. Vila will sing the national anthem at Citi Field right before the May 3, 2011 game between the New York Mets and the San Francisco Giants.

The premiere screening of the short film Tolero (written by Ricardo Cisneros, directed by Daniel Hilsinger and starring Antonio García, Jr. and Cisneros) will happen in mid-March at 200 Orchard in Manhattan's East Village. For more information, click here.

If you are an HOLA member and want to submit a bochinche item, send us an e-mail at holagram@hellohola.org. If you are not an HOLA member, why not join?
